Purnam Therapy exists as a space where you can slow down, breathe, and gently rediscover the completeness that has always been yours

I'm Elyse, a registered counsellor and yoga teacher with a deep commitment to trauma-informed, embodied, and evidence-based practice. My approach integrates counselling, somatic therapy, mindfulness, and nervous system awareness to support lasting change.

Through additional training in Somatic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems-informed parts work, Trauma Treatment, and Therapeutic Yoga approaches to nervous system regulation, I integrate research-supported modalities with the wisdom of your lived experience.

I aim to create a therapeutic space where all parts of you are welcome, and where your responses are understood within the context of your experiences rather than viewed as something that needs to be pathologised or fixed.

I provide individual counselling for adults (18+) throughout Australia via secure online appointments.

I often work with people who have experiences of:

  • Developmental trauma

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Burnout and workplace stress

  • Neurodiversity-related challenges

  • Identity exploration and life transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Emotional regulation difficulties

  • Self-worth and relationship concerns

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself, others, or life direction

I am particularly passionate about supporting people who have often felt different, misunderstood, sensitive, overwhelmed, or as though they never quite fit the expectations placed upon them. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware individuals who are searching for a deeper sense of connection with themselves, their relationships, their values, or their purpose in life. They may be questioning old patterns, recovering from burnout, exploring identity, or longing to feel more at home in their own skin.

I celebrate, honour, and stand committed to protecting the rights of queer, trans, nonbinary, intersex, sex‑working, neurodivergent, and disability‑pride communities, alongside the sovereign cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

I honour the Wathaurong / Wadda wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land and waterways on which I work, play, and live. I acknowledge the profound cultural knowledge, strength, and sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As part of my ongoing commitment to solidarity and justice, I Pay the Rent.

I recognise the strength and creativity of queer and neurodivergent people, whose ways of being, sensing, and relating offer profound insight into healing, embodiment, and authenticity. My work is grounded in affirming these identities, honouring difference, and creating therapeutic spaces where every part of a person is welcomed.
